Digital zenith camera of the University of Latvia

Design of digital zenith camera in Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics of the University of Latvia started in 2009. Now, after tests of a prototype, improvements of design and manufacturing of the second version, it has reached operational status. The paper describes construction of camera, features of it‘s control software. Vertical deflection determination results are discussed.

The aim of this work was to substantiate the use of whey protein extract (WPE), a by-product of dairy industry, combined with different berry purees in the formulation of a whipped frozen dairy dessert (WFDD). After freezing, the swelling ability of WPE decreased significantly while at higher temperatures of the dispersion medium, the degree of swelling increased. A mixture containing 55±2 % WPE and 45±2 % milk presented a homogeneous consistency while the further processing did not improve the structure of the mixture. Un capitolo della fortuna europea del «Liber facetiarum» di Poggio Bracciolini riguarda le rielaborazioni e le riscritture di alcune di esse nelle commedie spagnole del secolo XVII (il cosiddetto “Siglo de oro”). In questo studio, dopo una preliminare ricognizione bibliografica sull’attuale status della ricerca sul «Liber facetiarum», vengono analizzati i modi di riscrittura di tre racconti del Bracciolini (fac. 157, 172, 203) in tre scene di commedie spagnole del XVII secolo, «La dama boba» ed «El perro del hortelano» di Lope de Vega e «Don Gil de las calzas verdes» di Tirso de Molina. An operator-like description of love affairs

We adopt the so--called \emph{occupation number representation}, originally used in quantum mechanics and recently considered in the description of stock markets, in the analysis of the dynamics of love relations. We start with a simple model, involving two actors (Alice and Bob): in the linear case we obtain periodic dynamics, whereas in the nonlinear regime either periodic or quasiperiodic solutions are found. Then we extend the model to a love triangle involving Alice, Bob and a third actress, Carla. Exchange of immature loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) between the northern and southern regions of the western Mediterranean was investigated using data obtained from several Spanish tagging programmes. Tagged turtles ranged in straight carapace length from 23.0 to 74.0 cm. Thirty-six turtles were recaptured after an average interval of 390.5±462.6 days (SD). As the mean dispersal distance (MDD) of a turtle population that spreads over the western Mediterranean would stabilize after 117 days (CI 95%: 98 to 149), two analyses were conducted that included data from turtles recaptured after 98 and 149 days respectively.
